I can use some help in verifying the year of my bike. The number of the engine is M16716B.
Thanks,
Pete

Pete, what is the frame #. It is located under the neck on a flat plate. It may be hard to see it under there, so have a flashlight ready!

Pete, I recently received an email from Pat Williams, who spent years documenting simplex frame and engine numbers. He gave me some info, which I will post below. From this info, I would say you have a 1954. I'm trying to get more info from him, and if successful, I will post it.
Frame #08195 is a military model with government documentation of production as a 1954 model.
Frame #08284 is your frame
Frame # 08815 is an Anniversary Model (which was 1955).
If we slot your frame in there, it looks like yours was built within a couple of weeks of mine!

Thanks Rick!
It’s older than I was told when I bought it. That’s ok. Bike is registered as a 1957. I am not planning on changing the paper work at this time. Go to know the year for ordering parts. The guy I bought it from just found the original manual and gave it to me. I will try to get it scanned and downloaded.
Thanks for the help,
Pete

Hey Pete, I saw what I think is your bike over on the VMBC Facebook page. Looks like you took it in for some work. How is it running now, and what did he find wrong with it?
