Joe, could you share the motor number & frame number with us?  I'm curious if the frame numbers differ from the powercycle numbers.
thanks,
Mike Sal

These photos were in my intrduction. I could not locate a serial number for the frame, as there was no plate under the neck. You guys have concluded the frame is an early '49 based on the fender braces and location of the kickstand. the motor was purchased separately from the frame, so I'll consider myself very lucky if the serial #K00284A on the motor is correct for this frame.

That motor and frame definitely go together!  Who's to know they didn't come out of the factory together?  Well, besides you and us, since you spilled the beans!  LOL

I agree.  That motor number is perfect for a '49 model bike.  You should go buy a lottery ticket tonight!

Ok the frames I have is #1 is 01277 is in good shape I may restore it someday #2 is just like #1 but where the number should be there's no plate there and never was. #3 is 90990 a good frame has attachments for the foot control and that is how I'm thinking of going with it. #4 the number is covered by the powdercoated but looks like #3 frame style but has no pedal attachment and break switch just behind engine. Here's a photo hope it helps.

Wow, you have the earliest frame as well as the newest frame numbers I've seen.  I'm really puzzled by 90990.  The next newest number I've seen is a 28xxx.  The frame w/ no number is probably a model L or a early model M.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "foot control".

thats a swell picture.  Interesting that you painted the flywheel cover.  Looks good.  I had thought about painting mine as well as the compression plate cover, but haven't  decided yet.

Mike, I saw a red bike with its covers painted and thought it gave it a nice flair. The foot control I speak of and may be calling it by the wrong name, it is the device the mounted on the left side that's controls the pulley that controls the speed. I am thinking of putting a grinder to the blue one to reveal its number.

Yeah, I think that looks more realistic.  If they had built 70,000 simplex's in the last year of production, they wouldn't have quit building them!

Your bike looks great!  Where are you from?  Are you going to Portland in July for the Vintage Motorbike show?
