Title: Rim and Tire ideas
Post by: xeon100 on October 28, 2012, 12:00:15 PM
Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum. I am planning on building E-Bike out of the few chassis and parts that I have. I found some alloy rims 26x2.5 and 3.0 at this site. Might be an option.

I've also found a 2.5 tire. My bike is only going to go 40 to 45mph, occasionally at that, so they might work.

Also found a 2.35 by schwalbe for e_bikes

Thanks for the search ideas.  I am planning on doing something different then the stock wheels with my next Simplex project. Might keep the hubs and use new rims.  Mainly because I want a little bit different look.

I would be cautious using bicycle tires on a simplex at any speed over 25 mph.  These simplex bikes weigh a lot more than a bicycle, and the sidewalls are not very strong.  Simplex reproduction tires are very heavy duty in comparison, the only downside to them is the price.  Corky Coker is very proud of his products!  Wayne has the tires available..

As for wheels, I would look at Worksman rims.  These things are built really heavy, and can be bought with drum brakes.
