Title: Crank stuffers

So are these in order as early, mid, and late.  Never seen the middle one before.  It is my favorite though as it is most like my reproduction!

You have a repop stuffer ? Did you make it or ???
Maybe post a pic of it for comparison .

I vaguely remember that . You did a nice job on that , too . ;)

I've wondered if maybe having even less space in the crank area would increase/help overall performance .

Can’t really make the space smaller, as the stuffer almost hits the crank already. Remember that one I posted on my current build, it had rubbed in an engine?

I saw that , Rick .
Mine is a pretty close fit also . No rubbing , but still ...
Maybe take up space around the inside diameter of the case ? Not sure it would be worth the trouble .
Just mussing possibilities .

There is space between the counterweight spin area and the crankcase . Maybe lessen that space .
But , like I said , would the effort pay ?

Not really. The rod takes up all the room as it spins. The rod is only about .080” clearance from the crankcase as it goes around. The stuffer has a clearance of .035” from the rod screw.

Good thing I’m in the process of building a motor, as it was convenient to go measure.

The only place open in the crankcase is the 1” in the center, but you could not fill that in as that is where the fuel enters.

That .080" is the space I was talking about . I thought there was more than 1/32" clearance .
That's maybe a touch more than heat clearance .
Maybe there's someplace else a gain can be made . I know others have looked and tested different ideas .

Guess I'll just keep dreaming . It's a good pastime . ;)

Wayne recalls the middle stuffer to have been used in the J and K models.
