Title: Year engine/bike
Post by: Martijn Jumelet on July 01, 2019, 03:29:43 AM
Hey,
Recently I am the proud owner of this beautiful Simplex. This engine is originally from Aruba and ended up in the Netherlands via detours. This engine has been standing in a shed for more than 30 years and is still in good condition. I would like to know from you what year this engine is? To register this motorcycle in the Netherlands, I need a demonstrable year so that I can restore it. Thanks in advance!

Hey,

Sorry I forgot! I can't find a chassis number under the wheel?

Welcome Martijn . :)

Nice looking bike .
Your images are mostly a bit small , which makes the details harder for me to see .
But , from what I can see , it seems your bike is a 1948 .
I'm sure others will chime in .

You could reference these :

Hello pete,
Thanks for the information  ;) and sorry that the photos are small. Could you expose me something about the age of the engine. Number J4752 is registered. And is it true that the frame has no chassis number? I read on the forum that numbers are only used from 1953. I have to prove in the Netherlands that frames before 1953 have no number. Thanks in advance!

Martijn ,

According to our registry ( attached to 2nd post : http://www.simplexservi-cycle.com/index.php?topic=323.0 ) ,
your motor would fit in the year 1948 .
True , the earlier years had no frame numbers .

Hello,
I just bought this bike a couple days ago.  The engine number is: H 2864.  Does that make it a 1945 or a 1946?
Thanks for any information.

Welcome Brant . :)

You bought Martijn Jumelets bike ?

Anyway , the motor # H2864 seems to fall in the 1946 model year . That , according to our registry .

Pictures are always welcome .

Pete . :)

Thank you Pete.  Sorry, it was not owned by Martijn; I regret posting it on his thread.  I bought it from a gentleman named Jeff here in New Mexico.  He has owned it for over 20 years.
