cant polish the fins on a cast iron cylinder. an alum one YoU could do. cast iron would rust.
cost to do a case and cylinder is 80.00 to 100.00, depending on what you want.

Restoration Projects / 48 engine
« on: December 02, 2012, 02:51:34 PM »
here are some pix of my son billys (member) just finished 48 engine. engine case was powder coated a siver nickel, inside of the case and the cylinder were coated with a black thermal heat dispersent. the carb was redone in original gold type coating. everything was then packaged up and sent over to wayne for a rebuild. wayne ran the engine in and shipped it back. this 48 is gonna be nice.

ps, by the way. i have noticed alot of members seem to be in the dark about powder coating. if you have any questions please feel free to ask me or billy. weve been in the powder coating business for 17 years and be glad to help answer questions

i dont want to start a something on here, but lets put something out there. last week i got my issue of vintage motorbike club magazine. its my understanding that this club is for motorbikes, scooters etc. NOW, i have never been to portland, but i was looking over the winners of the bike show. almost without question, most were cushmans, with a few whizzers. are there not any other kind put in the show or what. like you said, its easy to restore something from a catalog, versus fabbing, rebuilding and generally taking pile of junk and bring it back to what it was when new. anybody have any input

yes, use the springs, everything seems to work fine. besides, trying to stop a simplex from any speed is a real trip

in waynes defence, they dont come polished. i have 10 that i had waterjet made. you have to polish them yourselves. the cost would be alot more if they came polished.  ???
