I'm pretty sure your bike is an anniversary model The have that special decal on the front fender and the frames were painted the same color as the tanks and fenders. 1955 I believe,

You don't see that many flywheels together any more, Nice find. If you find you don't need all those kick starters, let me know, I could use two of them.

I have found over the years of working with simplex engines that the hole with the felt in it is for fuel drainage if it gets super flooded. When I rebuild them now I close that hole with a dab of JB Weld. This makes a little more vacuum in the crankcase and seems to start and idle a bit easier. Now if you do happen to really flood the engine, you will have a little more work drying it out, but I think the tradeoff is worth it. Just my opinion.

Looking at your front fork, I would say that was a sportsman model. It most likley didn't ever have crash bars on it, and the foot pegs would be correct as they are. This bike would date somewhere in 1957 or 58. Looks like a good start for a project. Some one has turned the rear brake around backwards. The fork part should fit through a pin on the frame to hold the backing plate when the brake is applied

which style do you need? The bolt on, "early", or the clamp on "late" style?

Is this a new rebuild? Double check your crankshaft seals, loss of vacuum could cause this problem

I have seen worst parts rebuilt. From the picture it looks like you have a single spark plug jug. That is real rare, very few of those are out there. Flywheel is usable. That carb is probably a MT57, could be repaired with a new top. Us Simplex people are used to rough parts. Price the stuf and you will sell them

I'm not really sure, but if were to guess I have to say heavier than the cycle. It has a larger diameter frame, and the wheels are most likely heavier. I'll have to weigh it sometime, but I would say maybe 10 to 15 lbs heavier than a cycle. Good question.

I've had this bike for many years up in the loft. I got it from my good friend, Warren Naufzinger. It had a briggs engine on it. I eventually got the drive train components to put it back like it should be. It is believed that only 1000 were built, but I have seen a lot of them myself. They do ride nice and they seem to accelerate quicker. The clutch has 1" rollers instead of 7/8" and the Idler pulley has a different location for the tension spring. other than that, it's the same as the cycle. I suppose the larger rollers are to move the gear ratio up a little quicker.

Congratulations Mike, Isn't Illinois a great state? If you applied for a Bonded Title, you can register and ride your bike now but you probably won't get your title until the bond period is up.

This one has one positive and one ground. It does have a slot to hold a spare bulb inside the lens, but only powers one connection.I think the later H models had the system you are describing.

Mike, what mine has are two insulated terminals. They work as a distribution panel. The lighting coil out of the engine attaches to the front terminal.from there a wire goes up to the headlite switch. it is 3 positions off in center high & low beam left and right. The return wire or "another power wire" from the headlight goes to the back terminal and junctions with the tail light.
