Wheels & Tires / Re: Wizard Front Hub

According to Wayne MaHaffey the Wizard was only sold one year by Western Auto and is only a rebrand of the Simplex.
The year is believed to be 1953 that Western Auto carried these since the frames were painted the same color as the tins and Simplex stopped this in 1954.

I get to work a lot too so I understand.
I'll check with Wayne and see if he has something.
Thanks Rick.

Rick,
How is the fender manufacturing going, are they still working you to much to make progress?
I met a guy in Florida that has a 1941 and needs a rear fender with a right side cutout as his original was bobbed by a PO.
I told him I would check around so if this is something you could produce or if anyone knows of one anywhere that could be had it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

That's what Wayne had mentioned to me last year. I plan on coming in on Thursday and staying until Sunday at this point.

Thanks,

I'm as ready as I am going to be. What day of the week does everyone start showing up?

I know, right.

There is a yearly Vintage Motorcycle meeting in Portland where everyone gathers.
Only problem it is in Portland, Indiana which would be a jaunt for you.

I had another set of rims that I put on the Wizard.
They have just the right amount of patina IMHO and I believe it looks much better than with the original rims that were very rusty.

Wheels & Tires / Wizard Front Hub

So I figured out why the front hub on my Wizard looks so odd but is the original crème color of Simplex.
A PO has taken the hub completely apart and reassembled it backasswards.
I wasn't aware the hub ends could be separated from the inner portion but they surely can.
It took a lot more engineering to put it back together incorrectly and make it fit than just put it back together the correct way.

Welcome aboard Mark.
They are cool bikes and are quite addictive.
You can find out about all you want to know on this site and everyone is very helpful.

The front rim appears to be off a later model Simplex.
From what I can tell the rear rim looks to be what they call a drop center which is correct for this year range.

Are the rims different from each other?

I can't make out the second number on the tag following the M1.

Pete,
Only one neighbor ask to ride. When he let me take his rat rod for a spin I'll let him ride one.
The rest know better.

Rick,
You've had a long winter, hope you get to putt soon.

The restoration project motor number is H13266 which makes it a 1947 I believe.
It has decent uncut fenders and I have the headlight and taillight.
I need a crank for the motor and will more than likely just take it over for Wayne to go through.

It wasn't a big show since it was in front of my house.
They had to see some sunshine and all the neighbors stopped by.
I've also picked up pieces for another restoration project.

I should have shut up while I was ahead.
Wayne calls it Sinclair Green and I have to agree with him there.
It's missing the taillight shroud so matching 50+ year old Sinclair green might be a challenge.
Do you think black would match?

It is indeed grass albeit dead grass just the way I like it no mowing right now.
It has to be the fastest stock green Wizard/Simplex I've seen. That could be because it's the only green one I've seen.
