Welcome to the site. Post some pics of your bike so we can see what you are working on.

I think you could absolutely do that.

I have been working on small jobs for this bike while waiting on the chrome work to return.  I am not sure why but had to trim the length of my spokes to work with my Worksman wheels. Then rethread.  The front wheel is complete and I can put the tire on it now.  But still waiting for the rear hub to come back. I am also waiting on the seat pan. (and many other parts) I am planning on just doing the leather work myself. But, if not, there is a local leather shop in town to bail me out.  He did the seat on the Servi-glide.

I had already had the exhaust manifold chromed.  Then decided to run a dual exhaust that I have been saving. It was then that I noticed it goes over the manifold NOT inside.  I put some elongated holes in a 1/4" thick plate and bolted the manifold to it.  This allowed me to indicate it in, so it was perfectly vertical in both directions.  Then I found the center of the outlet, gave the mill a few dimensions as a circular profile.  This allowed me to interpolate the hole.  Depending on what side of the circle I put the cutter on dictates if it will mill the I.D. or the O.D.    By telling the mill the radius and the size of the cutter the CNC does the rest.
I set the outer diameter at 1.420".  It slips into the exhaust quite nicely!

I bought some brake lining sets for direct drive bikes from this guy. (BritisHub) His name is Gary.  He is in France and about 90 miles from the English Channel.  British bikes are common for him.

I found these photos again while looking through my texts with Ernie.  One day I will be going to see this bike.  Jim told me they had 30 minutes.  He said Ernie was laying on the ground trying to see what it said on one of the hubs and was polishing it there with his finger to read it better. He was told he could not touch it.

Like we really need reassurance about our Simplexes but are still fun to read.

Here is the complete piece of literature.  Shows a pretty in-depth strategy to launching more dealers.  This is one piece and folds open.  Doesn't indicate the location of the dealer shown.

I love this photo!  I can only wonder what it looked like inside.

John and I have been sharing some of our literature. I was elated when he sent me this!  Our best snapshot yet of what simplex was doing in those years.

Really helps to validate what I have been learning through other literature. And many new things.

Thanks John!

Planning on filling it.  Not quite as wide of a gap on the other side.  The lower joint is much smaller gap. Plus, I will use filler on a couple of small dents.

The welding repairs are completed.  I will need to finish a few small spots with filler now.

Not far off from paint now.

Brochures and other Literature / Towing

I didn't realize that the marketing concept of towing your Servi-cycle started so early in Simplex production.  Turns out it was nearly right out of the gate!

And with the onset of obtaining more literature I can now understand the use of the second hole in the choke plate. And why it was threaded.

Last pic shows good image of attachment to tow vehicle.

I finished the replacement clutch bail and have everything ready to ship to the chrome platers.  Other photos are of what are already done.  I will have both styles clutch bails chromed.

Rectangular piece going along for the ride.  Window frame for an Eco-meter.

Appreciate it!  I will finish it up and then send my last pile of chrome work out.
