Introductions / Newbie from MI
« Last post by ScooterfanRick on December 30, 2024, 10:43:33 AM »
New here from Michigan, thanks for the add! Looking forward to learning a bit about the Simplex brand. We have several Cushmans from a 1937-1965, but recently picked up our first Simplex, a 1960 step-through scooter. In my searches online, I haven’t found much info. I know ours doesn’t have the OEM engine, but it still utilizes the belt drive system. Here are a few photos.

Brochures and other Literature / 1938 advertisements

In an article I have it mentions the how the bicycle popularity had exploded back then.  Consequently.  Simplex would advertise in the American Bicyclist and Motorcyclist quite frequently.  I have a few of those early magazines.

Other Things Simplex / 1936 fenders???
« Last post by kartjockey on December 29, 2024, 08:40:30 AM »
These are the closest match to 1936 Simplex fenders that I have found.  This article comes from same magazine as the Simplexes were advertised in back then.  Should we dare to speculate?

Other Things Simplex / Service coupons

What a great way to promote maintenance intervals.   Shows a K model engine number ending with an A.  But are Boston coupons.  What do we know about suffix letters and build locations?  I don't remember coming across anything to validate this.

I think this to be the ad Norm Burton may have saw when he learned about this bike.  Somehow, I recall conversation about it coming out of Oregon.  The area code supports that.  I guess I will forever wonder where it went!
