I don't know, but I would guess not. I have never seen one like that on any Simplex, but maybe that was all Simplex could source at one point.

Here is a factory photo of a 1958 Sportsman with the cap we are all familiar with.

I'm with Rick , I've never seen caps like that on a Simplex .

They are neat looking caps though . I like 'em .

Ref the first photo in this thread . Did the Sportsman come with crash bars/ foot boards ?
 i know the photo was posted in ref to gas cap .

Those are late model Cushman gas caps.  Cushman must have bought them from the maker, as Clinton used the same caps, in a smaller size, on some of their chain saws.
