Pipe Dream?
« on: June 26, 2015, 11:50:56 AM »
Does anyone else think this price is out of line?  I get that the guy has some neat pictures, but do they significantly increase the value of the bike?  Asking $10,500, and not even one current picture seems way out of line to me.  I would think that very few Simplex bikes would come even close to that number, let alone a late model automatic.

What say you guys?

Rick ,

I'd have to agree , Pipe Dream .

The fellow experienced the history and I guess that adds value to 'his' estimated value of the bike , but it does nothing for what I or  likely anyone else might think the value should be .

Although , I hope he gets what he's asking . I'd be willing to increase my insurance coverage of my bike . ;)

Pete . :)

I sold cars back in the 80's and we had a saying... "There's an ass for every seat"
maybe he should keep it and not sell it (the seat that is)

Never post anything on an open forum that you would not say in a crowded elevator.

Ok. I will dream a minute with them! What if this thing has been setting in the 'back' room all high and dry remaining in show room condition and would make your tongue drop out and roll out across the floor like they do in cartoons. What then....?

As much as I like my/others Servicycles, I can think of better "vintage bikes" for that price tag IMO.  BTW, he said he'd post current pics of it when I E-mailed him...

Ok, the guy posted current pictures.  The bike is not a museum piece, but a well worn, pitted, slightly rusted bike.  If I was a buyer, $3500-4000 would be my number, assuming it runs like a top!
