Started my Frankenstein Motor for the first time
« on: September 14, 2016, 09:43:53 AM »
I put together a motor from a parts pile I acquired over the years.  The base is H6639 and the crank and flywheel have been rebuilt by Wayne.  It has a coil courtesy of Wayne also and a megafire electronic points and condenser eliminator.  The cylinder is very unusual in that the exhaust port has been enlarged I would guess by about 15 to 20 %.  The porting was very well done as I have seen a lot of this kind of work when I was involved in competitive go-karts in the late 60's - early 70's.  The motor is on my test stand so I wasn't able to put it under load.  The vibration was pretty intense because the test stand wanted to walk even with me standing on it.  It may be that the megafire results in advanced timing causing the vibration.  If anyone has experience with the megafire please chime in as to what you've seen in this regard.  Will provide updates when it is mounted on a bike.
