lighting ?
« on: March 20, 2013, 08:11:08 AM »
Ok Guys that can look deep into things here's a task. While surfing ebay today I kick up a roostertail to find a lighting coils for sale that looks like it needs closer eyes on it. The ebay # 400066667199 lists it as a scooter lighting coil for like 10.00 dollars. He's in Calif and also has other coils for phelon but does not mention simplex. He also list a Clinton folding scooter I think is cool but has a 800.00dollar price tag. But if someone could check these out they may be 12volt output that fixes the lighting problems we have. Just food for thought.  ???

Those look like the lighting coils used in a Briggs or Honda motor.  I don't see how that could be adapted to our bikes.

Reese, I don't know anything about the phelon magnetos.  Maybe someone that has one could take a guess.

How do these single wire coils work? I am used to a 2 wire stator on all my boat engines.

When I look at diagrams of these 1 wire coils, it makes no sense to me. How does the regulator do anything when it is just t'ed into the system?

Does the flywheel have to have multiple magnets for a coil like this to produce voltage?

Reese ,

Did you ever try one of those coils ?
If so , what result ?

And a question for everyone :

Has anyone tried adding a few windings to their current coils to possibly increase out put ?
