Hi from BC Canada
« on: May 18, 2022, 07:45:42 PM »
Hi Guys, i just picked up a rusty one,  48-2678,    it was in a loft for quite a while on an island off the coast of Vancouver Island
the motor is loosely together but is missing the crank and some other engine bits im sure
It looks to have had a chrome tank, mudguards and handlebars, the bike is covered in loose rust but the inside of the tank is like new
it also came with a rare (it seems) 1941 club newsletter booklet
im not sure what to do with it yet, restore or just look at it
it doesnt look like there are many parts out there

cheers
Kevin

Welcome Kevin . :)

Looks like the bike isn't too far gone .

Wayne might just have what you need for parts :

That bike is begging for a restoration.  It even has the original air cleaner!

As Pete said, Wayne likely has everything you need to restore it, and if you need help, KartJockey on the site is an expert on the 1948 model.

the tyres are knackered but the front is an original Simplex New Orleans brand
AND they both still hold air....

Thanks for posting the booklet.   Love your bike.   Thats an interesting seat embossing for a 48.

True , some folks were deprived of Simplexs . Too bad for them .

My '57 still has the original tires , too .
I don't ride it much , so I don't worry about them .

Scotty, here are a couple of other Deluxes.  I have seen Deluxes with both high and low motor numbers.  I think the one with the saddle bags was in the 4000s.
