The tank looks nice. Had to same problem one time with a cap that stuck on.
End up sawing it off .
My 40s tank has a brace welded on the end of the tank and also a stud welded
on the front of the tank to bolt it on.
How does the 48 tank bolt on.

Tank is held up against the top frame by brackets pushing up on the bottom seam.

Next time you have a stuck cap, try heating it up with a blow dryer or sticking that portion of the tank in very hot water.  As the gas dries up, it leaves a form of rosin (or shelack if you will).  Heat will soften it up.
