Hello, let the brain damage begin!  I have a simplex 48 simplex that i am restoring.
Parts  are comming from powder coat like hot cakes. Its like christmas time. I am short a few parts (rear fender , air cleaner, tail lamp).  here a few of many pics. to come.

Looking Good!  I chose to powder coat also.  Gives a really nice finish, and not too expensive.  Are you getting the wheel coated?

I have to ask about your rear brake panel . Why is the upper 'finger' double thick ?

Thanks , ricks and pd.   as for the rims i had some minor bends in mine so i went with bike rims from "fat bike".  they are 65mm wide and 36 holes for spokes. they are double walled. the  spoke holes may need to be drilled out a bit but they are perfect in size and profile. they are black ,but i am going to powder/coat them antique white. i will be selling my old rim hoops, they dont have any rust at all.  they have some minor flat spots. I bet they could be repaired. here are some pics of the new and old rim,(new ones blk. old one wht.) sending them out next week.  p.s not sure what PD meant about the brakes? Are you talking about the backing plate?

Looks like somebody added a "stiffening bar".  Sort of like Viagra for a backing plate.  LOL

You're probably right Rick. That would be the load bearing side.  Here's my '48 brake.

I can understand why someone did this.  I have one that is made out of some thin metal like this one was. It looks like it won't hold butter much less enough force to stop you. I say if it fits it works.

Yes, i see what your saying.  i bought the bike this way. looks to be reinforced compared to kartjockeys pic.  this bike was a wreck when i got her.  I cant go off how it was assembled when i got it . some of the manuals posted show a few versions of every thing (depending on year).  Example: the front springer fork spacer washers , i have two differerent bolt lengths.  in the manuals i find two differeent versions of washer configuaration. I am refering to the bolts down by the axle. any clear pics. of the washers and if the both get a washer (even though the fender strut goes on one of the bolts)?  thanks ,Dan

Just make a post and add more pictures to the new post.  You can add pictures to an old post, but they may get missed, as people read the new posts and don't look back.

Start a thread in the "wheels" section.  That way people will know where to look to see wheel & brake discussions & photos without having to hunt for them (is my advise).

Got my rims back from spoke guy. I used aftermarket rims.  so I had spokes made.(special size rims). they seem to fit good. waiting for my fenders to come from paint. I want to bolt these rims on.
