This pic is of a Hit-n-Miss engine it restored. The man is the grandson of the original owner and that is his grandson. Neat!

Pretty cool that it's still in the family.  I have basically no heirlooms from the families, other that a couple of Aladdin Mantle Lamps.

I've got a 1 1/2hp McCormick engine & a Maytag engine (I love to hear that maytag run).  I originally got the McCormick to use on a horseless carriage project, but it's too heavy for what i want.  That Hercules looks like my McCormick in that it may not be a true "hit & miss", rather it has a regular valve train & you regulate speed with thecarburator instead ofa governor.  I'll have to look closer at the picture.

Been awhile since I did this motor but it seems like you could alter how often it hit by adjusting a trip dog.
