Frame is a 1956, engine number indicates 1955.  Like all things Simplex, no one knows for sure if that motor was just at the back of a pile and didn't get used until a later time.  Post some pictures of the bike.

Very nice find , Juke .

Your belt tensioner is in the wrong place . The idler wheel should ride under the lower portion of the belt .

My '57 has the same seat cover , worn in the same place .

Take a close up picture of the rubber cover on the kick starter, please.  Does it look original?  We don't see them very often, as I believe they get ground off on the pavement when starting.

The Simplex reproduction tires are very nice.

oh Rick: you wanted pictures.

this is not a rubber hose slipped on it.
it has a flared end on the peg and there is no way a hose would slip on it.
its tight it doesn't move at all.

your thoughts

That is the not often seen stock kickstart cover.  I don't think many have survived the years.  Bike looks great and congrats on the shows.
