A New Look!

Finishing up my trailer to go down the road in style.  Sand blasted and painted.  Added hooks for ratchet straps.  Screw eye at rear is removable and aids to not have to cross over straps when hauling two bikes on board.  Cut off old fenders and changed over to bolt-on ones that actually do the tires justice.  Had to have decals sized down to fit accordingly.  Stainless hardware everywhere.  Contacted the manufacturer in Georgia whom sent me a replacement VIN sticker at no charge.  LED lighting with sealed trailer plug. CNC burned and bent the spoiler today and just brought it home for a trial fit.  Hopefully I can get it under paint in the next few days.  It is easily removable.

Boy!  I love this guy.  I had to put a slight bend in one of the uprights to compensate a bit of twist in the rail around the trailer.  I acquired this set from my Dad but never tried it. But remember him saying "MAPP gas gets hot".  That it does! The oxygen tank has a working regulator and makes for a precise flame that can be pin pointed for nice bends or whatever is needed.

I remember my grandfather had one of those Mapp/oxygen torches also.  I see you used the newer Map/Pro gas that replaced the real Mapp in 2008.  I had read that some people didn't think it worked as well, but you seem to have proven them wrong!

I've been using mapp gas for years . It gets a lot hotter than just propane , for sure .
Never tried the combination though . Might have to try it sometime .

I don't know much, I just googled it.  I went to buy a new bottle of Mapp a couple years ago and all Home Depot had was Map-Pro.  I used it without O2, and it seemed down on heat compared to the old Mapp I ran out of.

I heated 1 1/4 rect. tubing 11 ga. wall to red on all four sides in no time then bent it as needed.

I just went out and checked my bottle . It says Mapp Gas . But below , in small print , it says something about 'stabilized' . There was nothing like Mapp/Pro on the label .

Just read the Wiki ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAPP_gas ) .
Original , un-stabilized , MAP gas was MAPD .
And , true , there is a temperature difference .

So , what I have is the stabilized version .

Which ever , I definitely prefer it over propane .
Like I said , I'll have to try it with O2 sometime .

That’s good to know!  I’ve considered buying an oxy/acetylene a few times but don’t like the idea of acetylene in the garage. Tom, thanks for the report!
