Kick starter question
« on: July 13, 2023, 04:58:26 PM »
I have seen photos of Simplex Servicycles in the 1940's with rope pulley starters, as opposed to a kicker arm.  I have part of a 1943  model.  Should it have a rope pulley starter.  If rope pulley starters where used, will they also fit a later motor.  Thanks.

Simplex never used a rope pull start.  Those parts probably come from an outboard motor, as Wico supplied a lot of the magnetos for various outboard manufacturers.

Until the 1947 model year, all Simplex’s were push start.  Kick start was added for the 1947 model year, and Simplex made kits to retro fit 1945-46 bikes with a kick start.
