What is this guy thinking????
« on: August 04, 2012, 04:53:43 AM »
Check this out:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Simplex-Servi-Cycle-Chassis-/120962346032?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c29eaec30&vxp=mtr#ht_1250wt_107

I sent him a message to let him know what he had, as it appeared he did not know how hacked up the frame was.  I told him if he wanted to know about what it was really worth, let me know.  He responded that he had that much into it, and would just let it rust into the ground if he didn't get his asking price.  It never ceases to amaze me that some people value their junk like it is made out of unobtainium!!!

What would you pay for it?  I'd give $400 for the wheels, frontend, and sheet metal.

It's back!  He certainly is not being quite honest, as I told him what he has.  I guess he isn't just going to let it rust into the ground after all.  If he lowers it by the same amount again, maybe he will get a taker.

When I bought my roller I felt like it was at the high end but didn't want to come home empty handed. The winters are too long and I will be wanting to work on it. (have a '68 Sears twingle to get running too). My frame and wheels seem solid but could have done with original fenders to make what I paid for it balance out some. ($650-See my pic under 'what year is my simplex')  I have taken a few measurments between  my '48 and '52 roller to notice that the radius of the frame where the tank fits into is different and the space between those pipes(at the choke plate) is 1/2" narrower then the '48 is.
