Grocery Getter!
« on: October 20, 2017, 04:27:10 AM »
Travis and I are planning on leaving this one as it looks. Disassemble and restore mechanically.  Relube everything and just ride it.   I think I have all the necessary parts to make it tick again.

Frame #  04452   Looking like a solid 1952.  This has a unique all aluminum pulley manual transmission.

The aluminum manual shift transmission came out in late 1950, from what I have read.

Tom, remember the guy I got the automatic transmissions from in Portland?  He had an aluminum manual trans in his box of parts.

I had heard 1951 and think I have literature to support that so it sounds like we are all in align.

That's pretty interesting , Tom .
How is the center section controlled ?

Do we have a manual that shows this transmission ?

A coupler of pictures of the steel version for reference.  It looks like they pinned the center portion with outer to force both sides of the VEEs to spin at the same speed.   Where as the steel one is free floating.  Maybe it provided a more positive grip on the belts.
