Pete, is your seat cracked around the edges?  I have one that has a split around the edge, about 2" long.

My seat has a very small split on the side, more from the bike being dropped on it's side somewhere along the line rather than the material failing.  It's not too noticeable.  I figure if the original vinyl ever goes to pot, I'll re-do it in leather, but the chances are the vinyl will out live me.

Yes , the cover has been what I think 'worn away' on the right side .
I noticed when I kick the lever that my leg rubs the edge of the seat , exactly where the cover is 'gone' .

You can see along the right rear 'fat' part of the seat the pan is sticking through .
