Tecumseh 2 cycle

People give these engines away around here, was offered 4 of them by friends. I could not find any other engine to fit this 'child's' model or whatever it is. So I thought why not go back to the Simplex roots and use a 2cycle. I'm not happy with my latest setup and next I will rotate the engine up 45 deg., will have to fab a new intake to make card level. Just not much room for jackshafts or anything else on this small model. Will add more pics as I go. Oh yeah added a pic of my min-chopper I built.

Seems you forgot to mount the second motor in that mini of yours .

When I was a young guy I had a side business of auto/motorycycle/lawnmower repair.  Nobody wanted to work on Tecumse motors, so I had the bright idea that I would become an expert on them so I could gather more business (I did the same thing with automatic transmissions & made a lot of money working on them).  As hard as I tried, I just couldn't master the Tecumse....they just didn't want to cooperate (like those flimsy flywheels that liked to break rather than come off the crank).  I finally gave up & decided that I didn't like them either!

I have always figured that they are fine as long as they didn't need repair . When repair time came around , it was easier / cheaper to replace with a different brand .

I don't know if they are any better these days , but I still tend to stay away from them . Old habits and all ...

 I'd rather have a broke down Briggs than a running Tecumseh  . 

   I will say there ignition seemd to work well , hardly ever had to replace the points compared to Briggs . ( this is in the 60s aluminum Briggs& Stratton , The old Cast iron Briggs were better )

The solid state conversion for the Briggs was a major step in the right direction . Set it , done for life .

How heavy is your flywheel?  Will the motor have enough torque to get the rig rolling?

  I like the system . I am not familiar with this Techumseh 2 stroke . Whats it come from ?

The engine came from a $5.00 snow-blower. It has a heavy cast iron  flywheel, should be OK. I think the engine was a 5 hp model, will let you know how it works.
