Newbie from Jersey
« on: November 28, 2020, 06:12:10 PM »
Hello Simplex enthusiasts, my name is Ace and I'm a new Simplex owner. Thanks for the ad by the way. I just happened to purchase a 52'-54' 125? Servi cycle. My non runner looks to be mostly complete, aside from no exhaust, electrical issues, needs fresh tires. But hopefully I can make her run over the Winter. I have many questions and I appreciate any knowledge that this group can offer.

Way to go Ace!   Have you looked for a number underneath where the choke is?  Let us know what you find and I will get you on the registry.  Should help to add some perspective comparing to other numbers around yours.  Also take notice of the engine number.

Glad you found us!

Thank you Pete & Tom, I'm ok with the color, unfortunately when it was repainted they could've "prepped" the frame a little better. The rear fender is definitely a darker blue, I might rattle can the fender for now.

I did happen to look at the registry with my serial numbers, engine # M13179B and the frame is a little tough to read, it looks like 0TT90?   I'm assuming the T's are 7's?

Welcome aboard Ace!  I bought my 1st Simplex in Boonton, NJ about 10 years ago!  What part of NJ are you from?  I live on the east end of Long Island. Not many Simplex's on the east coast.

Thanks for the ad Rick, I'm in Rockaway, very close to Boonton. I purchased mine from a family in Stanhope, the guy said his dad bought it in the early 80's in Jersey City.

Hey Tom & Pete, I hit that frame # with a piece of Scotch Brite and I was looking bass ackwards. That frame is a liitle bit earlier. I got 05110.  I guess the T's were upside down 1's with alot of paint drool?

Ace ,

O5110 makes more sense . That falls in line for a 1952 model , as does the motor # and the headlight mount .
Your bike has a later model seat spring . According to earlier knowledge , the barrel type spring was used from 1953 -1960 . So , it's likely one of the first to be used after the switch from the smaller cylindrical spring .

Simplex model variations / differences are not well documented and as such the date lines are kinda blurry .
