In an article I have it mentions the how the bicycle popularity had exploded back then.  Consequently.  Simplex would advertise in the American Bicyclist and Motorcyclist quite frequently.  I have a few of those early magazines.

Wow . A whole hundred forty bucks .
Today that seems unreal , but it was a fair sum back then .
$140 in 1938 is worth $3,132.55 today .
