1947 Tank Cap
«

Hello everyone,
I bought a tank from a 1947 model. At least thats what the guy said on e-bay. It has a threaded fill hole on the right side of the tank. Just wondering if anyone has or knows where I can get a cap for this thing?
Thanks!

Well my time of watching ebay I have only seen one cap in the last three years. You can call Wayne he might have one on hand. Myself If I had known some of the tanks special needs I would of got two filler neck kits and replaced the single with a double. Just a thought.

Wayne has reproduction gas caps, and I know that Tom has made one for himself.

I saw at least one bike at the Wollard auction that had the cap in place . It is brass . appears it should be smooth across the top surface and knurled on the edge . The bottom is bullet shaped and has a vent hole . The other part of the vent looked to be at the vary top of the threads .
There was an augtion lot that had a couple of the brass ones which were beat up a good bit . In the same lot were some aluminum and possibly a brass home built (machined) caps . I think that lot went for around $50 .
