rim size?

im looking on ebay for some new rims for my stock hubs, am i looking for 26x2.00 or 26x2.125?
are these what i need?

i see they take .120 gauge spokes, 36 spoke rim. can i use these with new spokes? sold by the smplex guy on here?(i forgot his name)
i bought some coker blems that i hope work out okay.

For rims, Worksman, a bicycle company in New York, makes a very heavy duty rim.  These are used by many people on motorized bike projects.  They are 36 hole rims, accept a simplex spoke, and lace right in to a simplex hub.  Best of all, they are inexpensive.

i found the rim under part number 1016 ? is that correct? whats the rubber strip called that goes over the spokes?
is that a tuffy strip?

I don't know what a tuffy strip is, but you just need a rim strip, part # 1017.  They sell these at any bicycle shop.

FYI, these rims were used on the Simplex replicas built during the 1990's, including worksman's drum brakes.

1016 is rim only.  take a look at the 4131 and the 4136(front and rear).  I think I am going with the alloy style and maybe a Pirate cycle adaptor for the rear drive to the wheel.  Saw one in person and it looked pretty good.  I'll be selling my original wheels and going with new just to change the look of this bike.

Tom, he said he wanted rims only to lace in to his stock hubs. If I were going non-stock, I would order the rims with brakes front and rear.

There are some good pictures on this site. The wheels are near the bottom of the page. I would just order direct from the factory.

are there rims sold that are the same width as originals? i see the ones for sale are 1 3/4 wide. originals are more than 2" wide? ill salvage a set of originals from my two bikes but ill need to respoke one of the rims as the laced hubs are junk and ive got a good one that came as spare parts with my bikes.

ive bought these brakes in the past for other projects and look like they might replace the original brakes when using the original hubs. gonna need some modding but should work

No one makes a wide rim that is heavy duty like a Worksman rim.  There are some cheap wide rims made for bicycles, but these are light duty.  Wayne has been looking into having them made, but so far, no dice.  I have spoken with the engineer over at Worksman about producing wider rims, but he told me I would have to order 10,000!!!

yeah, i guess 10,000 would be what they need to bother with it. okay i think ive got things figured out, ill fix a pair out of what ive got to work with and build my custom with new wheels. anyone know of a new rear fender and brackets that will work on the bikes? something that fits and looks okay.
