gx200 conversion - rear wheel pulley

Just about to launch the old girl. The main concern I have is the final gear ratio using the comet CVT. Made a new secondary shaft with a pulley outside the unit. Unfortunately the pulley outputing the power to the rear pulley might be too steep (meaning rear pulley might have too large a diameter for the smaller one on the CVT) because of engine interferance. Think I might have found a solution by using a replacement Whizzer pulley which looks smaller in diameter.

Don't know if I will need it yet but want to keep it in mind.

Getting anxious now the weather has changed for the better. Will be great to ride one again after 55 years!

I am running a CVT as well With a GC190 on it. I also have the Whizzer sheave.

I have been talking with some of the motorized bicycle guys who run these on the custom built board track racers. They run the stock chain drive but are running anywhere from 4:1 to 5:1 drive ratio. It looks like with the 5:1 drive they are topping out at 45 mph with the governer removed.

I think the 4:1 ratio will net us a better cruising rpm from what I can see.

I am still in the research / gather stages so I have not tested anything.  ;D

The good thing though is that pulleys are cheap. You can buy all sizes and try them out.

Ok Im good now I've got a motor like that. It came off a pressure washer. So how do you handle the rear breaks with that motor in the way?  8)

Take a cruise thru Rick's "Truck Tribute" build pictures.  He made a nifty bellcrank for the brake rod to get around the modern motor.

I don't think my method would work on a 2 wheel bike, as my bellcrank is offset.  Wayne made a plate that raised the motor up higher than mine, where the brake rod passes under it.

HAVEN'T QUITE GOT THAT FAR BUT BY EXTENDING THE OUTPUT SHAFT WITH A PULLEY ON THE INSIDE THERE APPEARS TO BE ROOM FOR THE ORIGINAL SET UP.

Make a new brake rod. 2 clevis' and a piece of 1/4" steel rod, cut to length and cut new threads with a die. Should take about 5 minutes.
