Hi PD,
Your right about the CRS; just the other day I went home with my wife and the entire time I thought I was cheating on her.
Mike Sal,
On to the "Big Dig" topic and a little history.
The town of Burton was founded around the railroad and the cotton industry. The RR station was built in1870 and burned in 1898 a new RR station was built the same year. We discovered the 1870 cistern a couple years ago during the drought.
I have worked at museums and did a little archaeology work before so I volunteered to excavate it. I have a friend that is getting her PhD in archaeology at Texas A&M just down the road. She has helped and can use it as a learning tool as well.
So far we discovered the 1895 wall clock, a few coins and other objects from the fire. Great fun for old folks like me.
If it's OK I'll post a couple pics of what we have found so far.
Cheers
Stafford
