Folks, just a word of caution on sparks in a gas tank. I would either fill it with water to cut, grind or weld. Saw a few bad burned people  over the years messing with welding a gas tank.

Fill your tank with apple cider for about 2 weeks then rinse it out and let it dry. Weld up any holes then pour some powder coat in it and shake it around really good then bake it. My dad and I did this with our tanks andit works great! Hope this helps

These tanks can be powder coated...true?   They're not soldered?

I would of thought they were Brazed,but didn't see any in the few spots at the Seam where the Paint is gone.I'm gonna guess they must of been welded.In any Event mine will be welded when it goes back together,& yes...it will be PCed.

Hey bjm, I know the tanks can be powder coated. The shop that did mine also did the lettering in powder coating. Just throwing a challenge your way care to take it on. This is my tank and my bike is about 98% powder coating. I know there some flaws but its a one of a kind and a little special.

tank looks good. if you look at all my simplexs, they are all powder coated. I have the simplex logos made . little known fact. you can put several coats on. block sand between each coat and eliminate most pits marks in the piece. also use a powder primer and the sheet metal will come out slick. block and sand, block and sand
