Rick,
I spoke with Bob about a month ago while he was in the hospital recovering from pneumonia.  At that time he said that he would be out of the hospital in a few days, and that he would see me at Portland.  See you folks later as we are headed to England for a visit with family.  Mike

Rick, Bob is fine - as far as I know.  His daughter wrote an very nice tribute to him.  See the new issue Fall 2015 of Vintage Motor Bike Club.   I hope to call him tomorrow.  Mike

Rick, All I can tell you is the only that I have ever seen had a toggle switch (light switch) in the headlight shell.  Adam Wollard gave the light to Norm for repair and wiring, but somehow the light was lost.  I don't have a G Model manual, so I don't have a reference.  Maybe someone on the list can supply the details. Thanks for your question.  Mike

List,
I am still searching for a correct headlight for a military G model.  This is a bike that several collectors (including Gary Wollard and Norm Burton) had a hand in restoring.  As soon as I acquire the headlight, the bike will be placed in the World War 2 museum in New Orleans. I would certainly appreciate a donation, but, at this point, I would be willing to purchase, just to complete the process.  Gary and Norm would never forgive me for placing a bike in the museum that was not complete.  If you don't have a headlight, any leads would also be appreciated!!  Mike

Gov. David Treen & Brother, John, were easy to talk with, and they were very nice people.  To the best of my knowledge, John Treen is still living in Metairie, LA.  By the way, I need a headlight for a military G model to complete the restoration started by Gary, Norm, and others to take to the WWII museum in New Orleans.  Any help with this headlight would sure be appreciated.  Mike Montgomery, Ocean Springs, Mississippi

What a beauty!!!  A friend and I bought one of these as kids in about 1960, and, as I recall, Bob Payne and I paid $25.00 for it.  We rode it for about 3 months and sold it for $25.00.  It was the only one that I ever saw in my home town of Clarksdale, Mississippi.  What's a good price for the kickstarter set up for a Briggs NP?  I have the engine and the correct base to accept the kickstarter mechanism.  I need the pedal assembly and the pinion gear that mounts on the end of the crankshaft.  Mike
