I am attaching a picture of my 48, do any of you know what the part is that is attached to the aluminum flywheel cover, it is a bracket with a slot in it and a straight piece sticking up

What Year is my Bike? / unknown year

I am attaching a couple of pictures showing the head and block from one of my bikes, I don't know what year and hope someone out there can help identify.

Introductions / new member

I have 2 bikes, had one since around 1972 other since around 75, both have been sitting in my garage ever since, I am now at retirement age and would like to take the 2 and make one good bike, I have no idea what year either one is, one has a number on the block of 48-1225, the cylinder head has M1126, the other block only has the number 205 on it, the cylinder head also has 1126 on it, I will try to post some pictures, one bike is together, the other I have removed most of the parts and cleaned them.
