Title and Insurance Please
« on: April 17, 2014, 09:15:13 AM »
Hi Guys,
Just got the title and insurance done on the 56.
Man I just love Hagerty Ins.
Adding the second Simplex with all the coverage raised the policy $15 a year.
Wish my truck insurance was that low.
Now my wife and I both will be terrorizing the big city of Burton Tx.
Happy Resurrection Day
Cheers
Stafford

If you don't mind me asking, how much is your stated value on the bikes?  I need to add 2 more bikes to my Hagerty's policy, but haven't gotten around to getting a quote on those 2 yet.

Hi Ricks,
I have mine at $4000.
For the most part I insure them to be able to take them out for a spin with no worries.
I'll risk loosing a little myself because I know that the odds are in the insurance co. favor for theft or total loss.
Knock on wood but I have never had a vehicle stolen or totaled and never collected on my personal insurance or
had need to pay for someone else's damage.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Thanks Stafford.  I have my 1953 insured for $5000, and I think I will insure my restored Sportsman for the same.  I also have the 1954 rat bike that has had a full mechanical resto, but looks like crap, and I am not sure what Hagerty's will let me insure it for.  I am not really worried about riding them around, but when I bring them to shows, I have some concern that the trailer  with the bikes in them might get stolen.  Trailer theft seems to happen quite frequently.

Rick ,

You could always install a Lojack in your trailer or use a little different 'service' :

Read the comments for diversity .

Pete, I have thought  about that, but I already have the trailer insured through my regular insurance company.   If Hagerty's will insure my other bikes  as cheaply as Stafford's, I will go that way, as then I can get license plates for them.  In New York, no insurance, no plates.

" In New York, no insurance, no plates."

Same in Michigan .

Still , it would be interesting to have an 'eye' on your stuff if anything ever did happen . And , I wonder if the insurance co would offer a lower rate if you had a 'system' installed .

Very nice RickS,
I like the fresh barn find look.
The bikes I have although tempting to repaint and chrome out parts.
I like them looking very close to the way I got them.
My daily driver has my hand all over it but it is the horse not the buggy.
I play with paint and custom touches on then but, reluctant to do so on old iron.
Again your Rat is very nice. Thanks for the look.
Cheers

Just added my 2 other bikes to my policy.  Only raised my premium $77 a year.  Hagerty's is very accommodating to us motorbike guys!
