Winter Project
« on: November 11, 2014, 04:51:52 PM »
I picked up a GC 190 motor on Craigslist pretty cheap, like I need another winter project. I'll try and post pics as it comes together.

Ha . Accident , huh . ;)

It's a good looking ride . I'd be proud of it , too .
My brother in law has a Fatboy . Real pretty bike . I doubt he'd give it up very easily .
He says he has to be sure his mortgage is paid up before he goes to the Harley shop . :D
I see you've been there a time or two , also .

HG. Looking like your off to a good start. I am building a muffler to go in front and exhaust under the frame the right way. You will also need to redo your breaking setup, it will no longer go beside the motor. I can send photos of what was done on my bike. Not the neatest but it works.

I have been posting all my mods. I haven't taken the ones of the brake set up yet. Work has me strung out too far right now. Trust me I will be posting more soon but right now i am having problems welding my cover. It's not doing what I want it to do.

PD,
I have all my bike pics in one folder and tried to remove the Softail pic before posting but I guess I goofed.
I stay away from the Harley Shop as much as possible since I spend most my cash on Simplexes these days.

Reese,
Post the exhaust and brake set up when you can.
I'm supposed to go get some close up pictures of BJM's this weekend. I'll post them if we indeed get toghether.

Reese ,

Have you considered soldering that cover together ? That can look kinda neat .

Dang work always seems to get in the way . :( ;)

And Huston , I see by your avatar that Simplex has taken over 'your' Harley shop . Nice HD lift . That might be able to hold maybe a couple of Simplex bikes .  :D

HG, the muffler I am planning will look as close to what a single pipe should look like with one or two changes. The bike had at one time a starter/generator mounted up front and I will be using some of those brackets for support of the muffler. The second change is it will exhaust out left just in front of the tire down low under the frame.

PD, yes I considered the solder method to start but I was wanting a solid copper look. That may not be the case now seeing how close to the melting point you must tread the entire time. So it may be soldered or might I say silver soldered then chromed. New pictures coming before this weekend.
