Best way to ship a simplex?
« on: May 01, 2016, 02:06:08 PM »
Anyone Know the best way (most economical) way to ship a simplex. It's in pieces so it can be spread across a few boxes. I just don't want to pay a fortune to get it here. I'm not really worried how long it takes.

Any ideas?

I would put it all on a 4ft by 4ft pallet.  Strap it down and shrink wrap it all together. I think the shipping rate will be the best.  Get some rates for this and you might really be surprised.  Our carrier calls it their pallet program. Maybe there is some merit for them to be able to move cargo around with fork trucks instead of by hand. We do this at my work and some of them are insanely affordable.

Sure did. I was planning on building one for my wife eventually anyway. This way I will have a reference when I'm engineering the one that's built around the frame that Kartjockey (Tom) sold me.  I looked at what I was going to have in the one I am working on now and couldn't pass it up.

Now, my wife will be riding before I am. My son told me I need to make a side car so that's next on the list after these two.

That bike was a great deal. The parts alone are worth way more than he was asking.  If I had bought that bike, I would look at finding a correct M motor for it.

If I can figure out how to do it, I'll get it 3d scanned and print out one for you. It won't be metal but if you paint it no one will know.

Hmmmmm... I seem to remember someone on this forum is a pretty good machinist.

I heard if you take the front forks off and strap it back along the frame it will fit in the largest UPS box. That and dry weight is under there limit.   ::)
