Hello from Wisconsin
« on: November 17, 2016, 05:40:03 AM »
Hi All-
I'm looking forward to digging into my friends 56 Model M. It belonged to his dad and later his step-dad unfortunately stored it in a milk house (nice and damp) where it has been sitting for years.  After one night of work I found the engine to be free, cleaned the carb and have to do some electrical work to see if she will run.  This is the oldest bike I have worked on.  I have had a 58 Husqvarna, a 58 DKW, and usually do work on British bikes (currently working on a 70/74 Commando 850). I used to be a shop teacher and now work developing online learning for a bank.  So, working on bikes helps to keep my sanity, especially over the winter.
thanks,
Steve

Welcome Steve!  Post some pictures when you get a chance.

There is a lot of good info on here for working on these bikes, sometimes it is hard to find.  Don't hesitate to ask any questions, as someone will usually jump right in with a good answer.  As a word of caution, be very careful removing the flywheel, as doing it improperly can lead to damage, and they are extremely difficult to find.
