What's up everyone?
« on: February 18, 2018, 09:15:45 AM »
My name is Sheridan and I finally started the restoration of my grandfather's Servi Cycle with my buddy Joe yesterday. It's been in the family since the '50s but hasn't been touched in about 30/40 years. We aren't exactly sure on the year of the bike but we are thinking mid '40s. The story is that my grandfather picked up the bike from Castle AFB in the 50s while working there (served during WW2 then worked as chief of base supply at Castle the rest of his life). But who knows, maybe he just picked it up from a neighbor lol. We don't have any questions yet, but I figured I'd introduce myself since I'm sure I'll need some info in the future.

Welcome Sheridan . :)

Post some pics of the bike .

If it has a frame # , it will be under the steering neck support :

And the motor # , most likely at the bottom left side .

Those #s should help determine the year .

I see you posted pics while I was typing .

Pete . :)

Couldn't see the number on the frame, might have to wait until it gets sandblasted. As far as the motor goes, the lower half reads "H7655W", the aft side of the head reads "1125". The gas tank is a top right single fill. I cannot tell if the leaf spring mount is the double step or single step. It looks more like the double step to me. The filter bowl is on the left, bottom side of the tank and the gas line is welded to the frame requiring 2 gas lines. So I'm thinking this may be a 1945 H or do you think it may have been one of the GA military versions?

There will be no frame number; bike is way too early for that. It has the crossbar up in front of the front down tubes, which ended with the introduction of the 1948, if I'm not mistaken.

It also has the tall air cleaner, which changed to a much shorter one in 1947.

Judging from the engine number, H7655, I'd say it is likely a 1946.

Hey Ernie, what do you think?  LOL
