Breather is a reproduction.  Correct?  And unless the pic is just warped somehow that tank looks like a Spitfire tank.

I’m not sure about the tank, but I think it is a servi-cycle tank, but we would need a picture with a ruler to be sure. 

I believe that is an original air cleaner, as Wayne’s  reproductions are cast thicker.  Jim’s reproduction is made in two parts, with a piece of tube pressed onto an end casting, if I remember correctly.

Were some of the breathers two piece where the element portion was a steel sleeve that was fastened?

I don’t think so. I think the originals were die cast.
