New guy needs some help with a scooter

Hi all. I've had this heap of metal for a number of years and finally identified it as a Simplex but I'm having a hard time finding any info on it. I think I can save it but it won't be easy. It looks like it was run over by a car then left outside for 60 years. I'm hoping I can find out the model/year, what the driveline and rear wheel looked like and most importantly the parts it's missing.

I just found the pics that KARTJOCKEY posted and it's exactly what I am looking for :-) . I doubt that I'll have much luck finding all the missing pieces for this scooter so it might have a non standard drivetrain installed. Unless someone here is looking for a project with a capital P .

Wayne is our best bet for parts . Other than the occasional parts bike or maybe carefully buying on Ebay or the like .
Kartjockey has been working on a scooter and will likely be along soon .

Thanks for the hookup. I spent a few hours today heatin' and beatin' on the little guy and saved quite a bit of it. Still needs more love. The first thing on my list to find is a rear wheel assembly with hub, axle and brake. If I bastardize the drivetrain I'll be looking for a 12" wheel that's chain drive and can be made to look like the front.

Thanks. It was really smashed up. I don't know if I'll ever finish it , I just got tired of seeing it in that condition. I already have 8 Harleys, 2 Trucksters, 3 VWs and 2 Mercedes under the knife so I don't have much time or money left over for another project.

Considering the condition and incompleteness of this bike I've decided to do a "resto mod" . I have a Yamaha Zuma scooter in my bone yard with most of the pieces I'll be needing. I did some mockup and test fitting and it looks like it will work. I used the Zuma front wheel in the mockup as it is the same hieght as stock but the finished bike will use the stock Simplex Scooter front wheel after it's restored. I really hate cutting and modifying the stock frame but ya gotta break some eggs yada yada. Should be a fun toy when it's done.

Thanks. The left side cover will have to be modified to clear the belt drive cover. How much for a couple of yours ?

Folks put different engines in Simplex frames a lot .
Your intention looks like it'll be a fun git-about .
And , like Tom says 'interesting' .

Good you're making something useful out of a what most would have tossed .

Love the accurate restorations, but the mods can turn out spectacular for bikes that would never see the road as a restoration...and another one sees the road again to be appreciated by all! I'll enjoy seeing your progress.

Never throw nothin' away. I scrounged thru piles looking for some 1" tubing to make some body side frames and dug out an old rollbar that came off one of the Grandkids gokarts. It was the exact tubing as the original frame and even had the proper angle bent into it. I also made a few relief cuts in the lower frame tubes/exhaust pipe and dropped the motor down into it's final position. I plan to solid mount the motor/ wheel like the original. Life is good :-)

That roll bar might just have been off a Simplex go-kart . Exact tubing and proper angle ...

Are you gonna port that little motor ?
And , where will the performance pipe dump into the OEM exhaust pipes ?
So many questions and possibilities . LOL

i still have the frame. I'll put up a pic later for ID. No mods to the motor are planned. It will only have the one little rear drum brake so I don't want it to go too fast. The exhaust will be run thru the frame. I'm thinking I might could use a section of flex exhaust pipe off a Maytag gasoline washer motor for the head pipe.
