I spent the weekend cleaning and painting my frame. I was very pleased with the results my prep work paid off, may never be a  100 point restoration but will with out a doubt be the finest simplex in maquon il. Pop. 300 LOL

Looking good!  What type of paint did you use?

Nylon rattle cans, three coats primer sanded out with 400 then 3 coats gloss black
 was going to clear coat too but now maybe not I've got a really good shine just like it is

Nice paint job. I painted a old motor cycle with a rattle can, It turned out real good . only thing that I did was wet sand it when I was done and buff it out . Now the Question that I do not want to ask, but need to bacause I am going to start sand blasting my bike next week. Is the paint on a stock Simplex made with laed or does it contain lead in it ? That's a good question.  It wouldn't surprise me if there was lead in the paint.  That said, I'll take my chances.  As kids, we probably eat plenty of lead based paint!

Only trouble I had was fish eyes, mostly in my smaller parts, trouble with rattle cans can't add fisheye eliminater wipe every thing clean with laquer thinner and if all goes well a guy can pull off a pretty good job

Since they used a vat process to paint all the black parts, I wouldn't think they would have needed lead in the formula, but it is a good question.
