The short story ...
I did these 4 or 5 years ago . I had forgotten that I opted to use pop rivets , instead of the brass rivets , to attach the linings .
Obviously , pop rivets made working the linings into place easier . Had these shoes been meant for any high speed application , considering the heat and much higher overall stress , I would have used the brass rivets . But , being as these shoes will likely never get hot enough to make a difference , let alone white knuckle stress ...
Anyway , the pop rivets are an experiment for me . I thought about a contact bonding agent also , but ...
