New member from MI
« on: January 01, 2013, 05:11:52 PM »
Hey guys. I just picked up a new toy. I was told it is a 56. The guy had everything blasted but just sprayed the whole thing with bed liner in a can. It looks like crap. It is missing all of the trans, clutch and drivetrain. It does have the original engine but its toast.

The number on the engine is M22232B

Where is it located on he frame?

Thanks, MATT

Here it is as purchased.

The number is under the neck for the forks.

Post a few more pictures. What is wrong with the engine?  Do you have the cylinder and crankshaft for it?

That wheel sheave looks like it is from a whizzer.

It is a whizzer sheave. Are these OK for 6 HP and higher speed?

I have the piston, cylinder, block, and crank. The block has been hacked on, the crank is garbage, but thpiston andnd cylinder look ok. I think the main bearing spun and got hot.

I think I want to do a Honda clone. I did get a brand new comet CVT with the purchase.

Any thoughts as to the year of this bike?

The frame is indeed a 1956, but I believe the engine is from a 1957 model.  With Simplex, nothing is ever written in stone.

"I am in Saginaw. "

Originally , we're from the Grand Rapids area . We are retired and now live in our motor home and host different campgrounds . North in the Summer and South in the Winter kind of thing .
I bought a bunch of parts from the Saginaw area for a 1989 Yamaha XT350 dual sport , that I built a few years ago .

Cool man. I was just there for the ball drop down town. It was so cold by beers were freezing as I was drinking them.  :o

'Proof' that you needed something with a bit more antifreeze .  ::)
