Kickstart rubber

A month ago we were talking about kickstart rubber and  whether or not simplex them. We concluded that they did. Check this out.  If this is as a fantastic original as claimed then there is one. Looks to be green which I think would match the round brake pedal rubber color.

I don't think those springs on the front are original!!  LOL  What is up with that?  Other than that, the bike looks like a nice survivor.  It is either one of the last 1953 or first 1954 bikes built.

Those springs look like a poor attempt at a steering damper.

I 'wondered' about the springs , too , Rick .

Not only the 'no hands' springs , but the suspension springs as well . I've never seen a set like that before .

With as old as these bikes are, many parts could have been changed in the first couple years and they look original by now.

I have never seen a front spring like that either, and I have not seen a listing in any catalog either.

Is that a heat shield above the carb?  Tires are replacements.  Maybe the owner had a weight problem & needed the extra springs.  My Model T had a similar double spring set up when I got it to help "steer" the car straight & minimize the wobble.  Did you notice that the kick starter pins have been worked on.  The kick stand looks like it's been modified & I'm curious as to what's going on with the ignition switch.

Anyway, it would be a nice bike for somebody.  I'd date it to '53.

And , the throttle . Is that a return spring , maybe ?

I know there's been questions on the kicker and if they had it or not. As found on ebay #330893989673 a listing for a 1950 simplex advertising photos. The middle card that's red shows like it has a rubber on the kicker. Just thought y'all would like to see it.
