adding a little color up front
« on: March 18, 2014, 04:18:39 AM »
I wanted to bring a little color up front on my bike so, decided to pull the rubber foot pads and paint the exposed border and edge of foot pad.  Came out good and added a subtle touch of color to the unique design of these bikes.  Others may want to consider. Or not.

Like I said...subtle.  Especially with a cell phone camera.

Thanks.  More importantly it starts and runs even better.  After adding the free flow A/Filter and exhaust, combined with the richer jet(#90) and a new 140 emulsion tube it was like night/day.  These motors are really choked off as manufactured.  It Purrs like a kitten at idle and runs out really nice all the way up to full throttle  I kept and modified the governor to a 4k top rpm (45mph) with a comfortable cruising speed about 30-40mph because of its braking limitations.  The Comet clutch transitions are really smooth also, after adjusting the driven clutch. (choice of 3 settings)  It makes a nice addition to my other mopeds for summer...if it ever gets here!  (Rode my ZR7 one day last week, now we got another 8" of bleep'n snow. ARG!)

I think they sold tire chains for the Simplexs that ended up up North . ;)

This has been a Winter for the books , no doubt . Even here on the gulf coast we've had skim ice in the puddles a couple times and I must have spent $125 on heat this Winter .

Pete, up here that is about 1 weeks worth of oil.  Man, it has been a brutal heating season.

Here in Minnesota, propane was up over $4.50/gal. and some people I know had to fill their 1000/gal. tanks 3 times since fall just for their home.  Let alone cattle/livestock barns. Not to mention the cost of corn prices for cattle/livestock feed. I should have bought meat and milk as an investment instead of as groceries.  Dropped recently now to $2.90/gal tho.  LOL

Wow , that's a lot of heat . I recall heat bills in that range , but they were few .

We like the no snow and low heat bills we have with our current lifestyle . I do miss having a shop to putter around in , though .

Oil is currently around $3.80 a gallon. I burn about 1200 gallons a year.

You could buy a decent Simplex for that kind of money , Rick .

Where are your priorities , anyway . ;)
